My boyfriend is an American and came to Brazil with a tourist VISA. We intended to get married, so he bought a round trip ticket and just didn´t take his plane back. We had a series of misshaps and were unable to get all our documentation ready to get married wihtin the especified VISA time. Now we are tremendously stressed because in order to get married he needs to be in the country legally. What can we do? Please help!

Have you overstayed the entry visa?If not, you should be able to get an extension from the immigration department. Or, simply, visit a nearby country and get a new entry stamp when you return to Brazil.
Either way, I believe the max you will be allow to stay in Brazil is 6 months of the year.
If you've overstayed... you'll probably have to go to a nearby country and pay a fine when you leave. Hopefully they won't bother you much when you return.
Of course contacting a local attorney practiced in visa and marriage issues would be your safest bet.

If you really love and want to get married then I suggest you both spend on a lawyer. Do it in with a legal means. In some countries, they investigate couples who wanted to get married with a foreign partner because other people just marry to be a citizen of that country.

Wow mohamed, your post confuses me, it gives me a headache trying to understand what you are trying to say. But I think you are trying to gain information about Brazil Visa..Here is some info: * Tourist visa holders are prohibited to engage in business, work, or academic activities in Brazil.
* First arrival in Brazil must take place within 90 days from the date the visa was issued.
* This visa is good for multiple entries within the visa's duration. Please note that even when the validity of the visa exceeds 90 days, authorized stays are for a maximum of a 90 day period per visit. If necessary, an extension may be submitted to the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested prior to the expiration of the authorized stay (special requirements apply). Tourist visa holders are allowed to stay in the Brazilian territory a maximum of 180 days over a 12-month period.
* Citizens of the following countries do not require a visa to visit Brazil for tourism purposes, provided that the trip is strictly for tourism and the stay does not exceed 90 days: Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Malaysia, Monaco, Morocco, the Netherlands, Namibia, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Surinam, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay, the Vatican and Venezuela; the last country, for a stay up to 60 days) .
* For nationals from Bhutan, Central African Republic, and Taiwan visa will be issued on a "laissez-passer".
* Brazilian nationals must enter and leave Brazil with their Brazilian passport only.

I came to Brazil on 19th of October 2008, I went two times to abroad and came back to Brazil and I got one extension for 90 days from Federal. This extension will be over on 14th of july and I learned that this extension can only be once during 365 days. Now I want to know what if I go nearby country and come back to Brazil. Because I must finish lots of procedures here, I started to establish a company but my company tax number hasn't confirmed yet because the procedures take time, my company registered by chamber of commerce only and CPF. On the other hand I live with a Brazilian and we will get marry soon after my divorcing procedures finish in my residency country. I want to learn how risky to go another country and come back to get visa, will officers on boarder refuse me to enter the country as my stay here in brazil will be more than 270 days when I leave the country but all these 270 days are with visa. Thanks in advance...

Patricia, you should do the following:1. Go to the next airport, ask to talk to an immigration official. Explain the situation of "a friend of yours" and get the correct information. Ask him for advice, he will know exactly where to go and what to do. He will know all the tricks.
2. Follow his advice!
If you have a visa, going out and coming in won't work. If you try to leave the country, they will see it in your passport, no chance.

People why nt consult and seek for legal advices on this so legal matters. Do you expect lawyers to be checking on this forum to answer your questions?Anyway here is what i gor from the net
How to Extend a Tourist Visa
The Federal Police (Polícia Federal) is responsible for extending tourist visas.
* To find a local Federal Police office: Click here
The person will need to fill in a form called a Guia de Recolhimento da União, which contains drop down boxes to choose the appropriate Federal Police office, the service required, full name of parents and address.

A smart laywer would develop a lot of clients by participating in this forum. He wouldn't even need to talk about legal stuff most of the time. Just show that he is fluent in English and knowledgeable about life and travel in Brazil.By developing his name that way, those who needed legal assistance would look first to him/her. That really goes for anyone offering products or services in Brazil of interest to English speakers.
Instead people prefer to spam and post a marginally useful URL with a stupid comment and never come back.

Hmmm.. so you would want to extend your visa without all of those hassle, I think it is a little impossible Louie. All of the legal stuffs nowadays would be a lot hassle to do. But you can try hiring someone to do all the task and avoid all of those hassle. Or try to check out the net if you can be able to see some more information. Good day.

Yeah, you can hire them and then you shall also pay the price, a huge amount to be precise. I think people should refrain doing those stuffs, for me it is much better if people would just do what they are to do by themselves. Not unless if they have some incapability and disabilities, of course that is an exemption. But anyway, have a great day guys and just keep all of those posts coming.
