Can someone from Brazil help me out?I'm being told by someone that if a Brazilian citizen withdraws their personal funds to invest in the US, let's say to buy some real estate, that the money withdrawn is subject to taxes/penalties because it is moving outside of Brazil.
Is this true? If so, what sort of penalties are we talking about?
Thank you.

It would also be nice to know about taxes or restrictions on transferring money INTO Brazil as well.

Andy, The most qualified person to give you that information would be your accountant in Brasil or your attorney.
My Acountant firm here in Miami is Pratz Hernandez and Company in Coral Gables.
