To live in Brazil, after getting the appropriate visa, of course, you will need a ID, called here RNE, a CPF (needed for banking acount, rents, credit cards...) and an Autorization for Driving. Those are the basic ones. If you are planning to work for a company based here, and receive salary from them, you will also need a CTPS (book of work registration. Now depends on what kind of visa you will have you will be able or not to get this documents. So, please let me know with more details the type of visa you are planning to get, or inform in what conditions you are coming to Brazil so I can tell you the visas available for your case and what kind of documents you can get with it.

Woah! "The King" Elves P. is in the house! hehehehe but come on. You are definitely just a spammer. The iformation is already given above and if you are "that" serious, you will look in other websites than within this forums. Spammers are now dominating the forums. Jeez! From website advertisers to just plain unethical and inconsiderate racists.

I will be applying for a permanent visa in Brazil. I am the mother of a Brazilian child.Does anybody know what documents I need to collect from my country of residence (UK) before I go??
I know I need a police check.
I have contacted lawyers in Brazil but none of them give me any information & the consulate in London just says wait til you get there!
HELP!

If you can live within the law and do not need to work (you are rich) or need to work where you earn no more than rice to eat (you could get a job for rice) Sao Paulo would be about the best place on earth to "vanish".... Just do nothing wrong, find someone to share rent with (no documents required) and stay there. QUIETLY. You will not be able to own a car, travel will suck, and to get anything of value will be trying...but possible. My daughter (we are yanks) stayed here for 2 years illegal. When she wanted to return, we went to the Federalies and paid some small fine...she left, got a new visa and returned. I have a son here so it is no big deal for me, I am legal and in like Biggs-I-am. I just CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME find out if I can import 2 VW motors that I built "duty free" with that DUTY FREE shipment one is allowed for 6 months after the green card gets approved.Anyway...CENTRAL EXPAT knows the drill....you do ALL he wrote...BUT.... to be able to get a TEMP WORK VISA you must be invited here by a regestered company. THAT COMPANY vouches for you. You will need a police clearance to get that. Other things for the NORMAL visa are birth cert and passport. (3 things will get you a tourist visa) Show up on that and get married...could be the easiest way to get where you want to be...which sounds like here. She will leave you eventually but by that time, if you have no kid...your back to square one. But hey..you can say you did it and you will have had ONE HELL OF A GRAT TIME! Good luck...your gonna need it to make that wish come true.

I say...a woman... with a baby..with your name on the cert...a Brazilian fathers name on the cert...??? you are home free. TRAVEL.Do what they said in the UK...COME ON OVER.
Knowing Brasil they would NEVER make you leave...YOU have the Brasil kiddo. You DO NOT need the police check IF you do it here.
You will need your birth cert....your passport...2 pictures of you...that is all that I needed. Fill out one paper..they visit you...you wait FOREVER for the Green Card.

If you want to go to Brazil why don't you just visit their embassy in your country or the nearest consulate to find out all that you need. Or search for their contacts online and have a chat with them? Your method is what may be inviting people like Drake to call you a spammer!

The alleged spammers are being acussers disguising themselves as goodwill ambasaddors..hahaha. Legal requirements vary according to a country's laws. Depending on your purpose of travel, the requirements for travel are normally stipulated as well as the consequences of failing to honor them. A Visa normally guarantees entry but not automatic residence.

I agree with most of the previous posts. It would be drawing the picture of a person that is not serious or one that is asking questions just for the sake of it to ask where you need to go to get Brazilian residence. That is why there are consuls and embassies all over the world.
Get moving and make your travel plans in advance..feel safe while in Brazil!
