Hi all, I'm a recent transplant in Fortaleza, but I've visited a lot during my life and have a pretty good vocabulary. I need to take professional classes to really improve my grammer and to increase my technical vocabulary. Anyone know where to take Portuguese as a Second Language type classes in Fortaleza?
Thanks

I would work my way out rather than incur expenses in going to a professional classes. But of course that would help you in getting accredited, right? Brazil is a country that is rich in Portuguese so coming across whatever you are looking for should not be hard. Take care of your PR skills or better still, utilize the very invaluable resource, the net.
Have a look at this link...

A recent transplant indeed.....I like that. I do not know much about what professional classes would mainly cover but my guess is you could still home school yourself. If you are poor in following self-styled schedules like I do, then you'll need to go to class. There is variety of options though.
School of Everything gives you the unique chance to learn Portuguese in Fortazela. It is a community of people teaching and learning.

So, is kispe and moy related to each other? or are they the same people in two names.. You two guys have provided a link which is the same. That is quite a coincidence.yeah, that school would be nice and would be of help to the original poster, she or he just have to look at it and decide whether to enroll or not.
Best of luck on your language studies.

Hi, Roberto: Nice to hear from you. Fortaleza is really a nice place. I´ll give you my two cent´s worth: If your objetive is to learn the Portuguese language, just sit down and learn it! No one can actually TEACH a language, YOU learn it. You do this with a teacher or on your own, with books and tapes. I know people who have actually learned languages like that. Of course, I must agree, that a "professional" teacher can be a great asset, if you can find/afford one. But don´t let that limit you.Best wishes...

I would love to learn Portuguese simply to be able to converse with Brazilians alone, much less for the other nations which speak the language. Still, I am a person that would love to learn Spanish, first, as my second language, then probably French, and Portuguese would surely follow.

Are there any free online resources that can be discovered where a person can easily learn a foreign language and do so in a short space of time?

I think there is, but it would not be advisable for people to try an online way of learning a new language, i think it would be a little hard on the part of the learner. But anyway, everything depends largely on the preference of the individual.
I would still suggest that you enroll on a school with a professional language instructor to guide you in the whole process. Smile :)

I have to agree on that Cheryll. Most of the time it is much advisable if people go to language schools instead of doing some online studies. But anyway, it all depends on those people's preference, right? IF you really want to enroll online then go ahead, just make sure that you will understand each lesson perfectly without the guidance of any instructor, which I find a little hard to do.

Well you have a point there Yuri, but I think it does not matter on where you are enrolled as long as you know that you are doing good and is learning. You just have to put your mind into what you are doing and yo are off to learning stuffs. Just try your best on everything that you do. Have a good day everyone and I hope to hear from all of you soon.

So, you are a recent 'transplant' in Fortaleza huh.. Good luck on that Roberto. And since Brazil is a Portuguese speaking country, it is best that people who would be visiting the said country be able to learn how to speak the basics of this language, to prevent the language barrier. Good thing post number ten bring up that. Thanks a lot guys and just keep posting here. Good day.
