I am a final year medical student in Dublin, Ireland. Next year I will begin my Intern year in St Vincents University Hospital Dublin.Following this, I will be qualified to work and train abroad and I am interested in working in Brazil, particularly Curitiba.
Could anyone advise me of the requirements to work as an SHO in Brazil. I am currently taking Portuguese lessons and should have a good level of Portuguese by the time I consider moving to Brazil.
Are there any universities / hospitals. Public or private with links to universities in English speaking countries?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Pete

I'm probably going to sound stupid for asking this, but what is a SHO? I want to help you but not even google has the answer to what SHO is..

My guess about SHO would have been senior health officer. I love the way the medical and pharmacy curriculums are developed in my country. The moment you are done schooling, jobs are in the offing. Back at home, you can source info frm the various departments. I am pretty sure you will find an overview online but then, an expat's advice would be the best

Well, the term SHO was new to me until I stumbled upon this website. It is a noble idea to work in Brazil so I am hoping you are willing to do enough research. You could consider enquiring about Brazilian universities' links with their English speaking counterparts by carrying out the research from your end. The medical industry in Brazil is growing and your best bet is in the word of a health professional(s) from Curitiba

It is a very important position in which the individual is going to have to understand that they have the health and the safety of other individuals in their very own hands.

so that is what sho stands for. a doctor who had worked for two years time, how about the doctors who had worked for more than two years, lets say 3 or four years, is there some special term for them also?

Yea that concept is something I only just put my finger around. What do they really call the ones that have worked for more than three years?

That question is really good. So how do those doctors who practice their profession more than 3 years, how are they being called? Is there some special name for them? But anyway, let us just hope that if there is such name for those who practice more than 3 years, someone would inform us here.
Have a very nice day ahead of you guys. Best of luck and God Bless.

That's gotta be a veteran or something like that, right, right!?

Hmmm.. so a veteran doctor huh? I have not heard of such title before. I would like to absorb that idea and yet my mind just keep on pushing the thought away. Maybe I should check the meaning on the net first. Or better yet, I would try asking a professional who would know what that abbreviation would really mean. Well guys, hope to hear from all of you again.

So Eduardo, have you already find out the meaning of that acronym? I am also interested in knowing the meaning of that, I have heard of that term only now. But anyway, regarding the medical field of work, I would also like to know how high is the chance of people getting a good job in Brazil in the medical field. I hope to hear from all of you guys.
